Lopez & Humphries Scholarship
Our personal injury law firm in Lakeland, Florida, is offering two annual $500 scholarships to students who are currently attending or plan to attend their first year of college in the upcoming fall/spring semester.
Both founding partners, Melodie Lopez and Kevin Humphries, know firsthand the importance of a college scholarship. They were recipients of scholarships, and this recognition and reward for their achievements enabled them to attend college.
The cost of higher education is continuing to rise. Our Lakeland personal injury lawyers believe that by helping students achieve their dreams, our world can become a brighter place for future generations. This scholarship gives us an opportunity to do just that.
This year’s essay topic is on the dangers of distracted driving. Distracted driving is among the most common causes of vehicle accidents in Florida and across the country. It is our hope that we will continue to bring awareness and accountability to this growing issue and make our roads a little safer for all.
Who’s Eligible for the Scholarship?
The $500 scholarship contest is open to Polk County, Florida, residents in their first year of pursuing post-high school education at an accredited institution (university or college) or through dual enrollment. Proof of school enrollment is required. Those in any degree program or major are welcome to enter.
Two winners will be selected, and a $500 check will be made payable to the winners’ colleges or universities. The winning students will need to file receipts according to IRS regulations.
