Requirements & Eligibility

1. All entries must be uploaded to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) or video streaming platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, Rumble, etc.
2. Students must be located in the United States.
3. Students should be ages 18+ and currently enrolled in either high school, trade school or a college / university.
4. Past winners are ineligible to win. 
5. All entries must be submitted in English.
6. Students may work together in groups or submit entries individually. (They may only enter one entry).
7. The video should be less than 60 seconds.
8. The video must include a 5 second title screen (Does not count towards the 60 seconds) That includes the following:
   • Lead Producers name – This will be the main point of contact.
   • Contact details (phone & email)
   • School name
   • School city, state
   • Title of video
   • Total running time (not including the 5 second title screen).
9. All information presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the original source.  Plagiarism of any kind will result in disqualification. You DO NOT need to include your citations in your video. IF CHOSEN AS A FINALIST, you must submit a list of your sources, properly cited.
10. There is no entry fee.
11. Entries may be submitted through the website form located at https://www.lopezandhumphries.com/scholarship/ starting March 1st, 2024. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2024 by 11:59pm. Winners will be announced on our social media accounts, Instagram and Facebook, on August 14th, 2024.
12. Each entry must be a sketch / video relating to the following topics:
    
    • Unveiling the power of trust in professional relationships
    • Exploring the crucial role of laws in shaping society
    • Delving into the deep significance of trust in our lives
    • Or other captivating subjects that provide entertainment, engagement, and societal value.
13. No copyrighted materials (music, images, video clips, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all copyrighted materials.
14. This contest is provided to benefit high school, trade school and college students so professional assistance is allowed.
15. All portions of the online entry form must be completed when you upload your video for it to be eligible.
16. IF CHOSEN AS A FINALIST you must submit a signed/completed Actor Release Form for each person appearing in your video.
17. Content must comply with all local and national laws of the country of origin and the United States. Content must not
    • Promote illegal behavior.
    • Support racial, religious, sexual, or other invidious prejudice
    • Advocate sexual or violent exploitation.
    • Violate rights established by law or agreement.
    • Invade the privacy of any person.
    • or be otherwise inappropriate as determined by Population Connection in its sole and conclusive determination.

Judging & Awards Information

1. The judges’ decision is final Entries will be judged on the following rubric.

2. The only compensation for submitting a video is the opportunity to be awarded a prize if the entry wins. Lopez and Humphries P.A. will pay filmmakers no additional compensation nor be liable to the filmmaker under any circumstances.
3. The only awards that will be provided are $2500 for first place, $1500 for second place and $1000 for third place.

Ownership and Usage Rights

1. Students should upload their video to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) or video streaming platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, Rumble, etc., but Lopez and Humphries P.A. is NOT responsible for any videos removed or not accessible for judging or that cannot be uploaded for review.
2. Ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the project remains with the entrant, with the following exceptions.
   
   • Entrants grant Lopez and Humphries P.A. the perpetual right to use, reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, and/or display the entrant’s project video without further compensation or notification to the entrant.
   • Lopez and Humphries P.A. maintains the perpetual right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, or exhibit the project for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes on their website, at conferences, or at any other venues.
3. By accepting the prizes, the winners agree to hold Lopez and Humphries P.A. and all Lopez and Humphries P.A. employees harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of such prizes. The winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused from participation in the contest or use/redemption of any prize.
4. Entrants agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions of the judges.

Additional Disclaimer information:

1. Grant of Rights and Publicity.
   By submitting a Video in this Contest, all Entrants grant to Lopez & Humphries, PA. (the “Contest Parties”) an exclusive worldwide, perpetual, unlimited, irrevocable, royalty-free right and license (the “License”) to use, edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publicly display, publish, publicly perform, transcode, make derivative works from, or otherwise make any use of their Video, (and if a winner, the related raw unused Video footage in any media and content whether now existing or later invented without any restrictions, right of approval or advance notification to the Entrants of any kind, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, including without limitation, in future trade, publicity and/or advertising for such Contest Parties products and/or services, unless prohibited by law. The winning Entrants further grant to Contest Parties a License to use the winner’s individual name (first and/or last), hometown, place of residence, photo, image, voice, and likeness, in connection with the Contest and/or Video, in any manner and in any media and content whether now existing or later invented without any restrictions, right of approval or advance notification to the Entrants of any kind, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, including without limitation, in future trade, publicity and/or advertising for such Contest Parties products and/or services, unless prohibited by law. Entrants further agree: (i) that Contest Parties may exercise any and all rights hereunder without attribution, notification or compensation to Entrants; (ii) that Contest Parties shall have the right to freely transfer, assign or sublicense their rights hereunder, in whole or in part, to any other person or entity, without notification or approval by Entrant; (iii) that Contest Parties shall have no obligation (express or implied) to use the entry in any manner and Entrants shall not be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason of Contest Parties use or non-use of Entrants’ submission; (iv) to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges; (v) that Entrants may be contacted by Contest Parties by telephone, mail or email regarding this Contest; and (vi) to sign and deliver to Contest Parties such documents as Contest Parties may reasonably require to effectuate the rights granted herein.
    
2. Representations and Warranties and Indemnification.
   Entrants represent and warrant that: (i) the entry is Entrants’ original work; (ii) the entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; (iii) Entrants have obtained written permission from each person whose name, likeness, voice or other intellectual property is used in the entry ; and (iv) the publication of the entry (or related Video footage) by Contest Parties will not infringe the rights of any third party. Entrants will indemnify and hold harmless, Sponsor and the other Contest Parties from any third-party claims to the contrary and any third party claims arising out of or related to Entrants’ Video (or related footage or artwork) or participation in the Contest.
    
3. Limitations of Liability and Release.
   Sponsor and other Contest Parties are not responsible for: (i) technical problems or technical malfunction which may affect the operation of the Contest, including, but not limited to, any of the following occurrences (a) hardware or software errors; (b) faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; (c) errors or limitations of any Internet Service Provider (“ISP”), servers, hosts or providers; (d) garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; (e) failure of any e-mail transmissions to be sent to or received; (f) any inability to upload or download any information in connection with participation in the Contest; (g) inaccessibility of the Website, in whole or in part for any reason; or (h) lost, late, delayed, corrupted or intercepted e-mail, Website, or Video transmissions; (ii) unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; (iii) destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an account used in connection with the Contest, including but not limited to, undeliverable contact attempts that result from any form of active or passive e-mail filtering or for insufficient space in Entrant’s account to receive e-mail; (iv) any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Website; and (v) any personal injury, or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user’s or any other person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest, use of the Website, or the download of any information from the Website. BY ENTERING, EACH ENTRANT AGREES FOR ENTRANT AND FOR ENTRANT’S HEIRS, EXECUTORS, AND ADMINISTRATORS TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS THE CONTEST PARTIES, YOUTUBE AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, PARENTS, OWNERS, FRANCHISEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES (COLLECTIVELY, THE “RELEASED PARTIES”) FROM AND AGAINST ANY LIABILITY, CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES), INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF PROPERTY, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR NOT, ARISING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST OR RECEIPT OR USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PORTION OF THE PRIZE, ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST OR IN ANY CONTEST OR PRIZE RELATED ACTIVITY, OR ANY ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE CONTEST WEBSITE, OR ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PUBLICITY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION OR INVASION OF PRIVACY, OR MERCHANDISE DELIVERY.
