Did you know? Attorney Melodie López has previously served twice as chairperson on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee.

The Purpose of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee

There are 20 judicial circuits in Florida, and each has its own grievance committee. The grievance committee is responsible for overseeing complaints made against lawyers in their respective circuit.

The grievance committee reviews these complaints and then determines whether there is probable cause that the Supreme Court of Florida’s rules of professional conduct have been violated. If the grievance committee determines that there is probable cause, they will then determine whether the subject of the complaint should be disciplined for their conduct.
