Candice Dixon has been practicing law since 2013. She began her career as an Attorney at the Office of the Public Defender, 10th Circuit where she tried over forty misdemeanor and felony jury trials. Candice received the office award for the most trials in 2014. Her misdemeanor trial experience includes defending clients in Driving under the Influence charges, drug charges, criminal driving charges, and Battery charges including Domestic. She has also defended clients at trial for felony drug charges, Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery charges, Armed Robbery charges, and Sexual Battery charges. Candice managed complex caseloads that included all degrees of felonies, including first degree murder cases. Candice also has several years of administrative experience serving as Felony Division Chief and Misdemeanor Division Chief where she mentored and trained attorneys.
Upon leaving the Office of the Public Defender, Candice joined López & Humphries, PA as an Associate Attorney practicing in the areas of Social Security Disability, Personal Injury, and Criminal Defense. Prior to becoming an attorney, Candice worked in the mental health industry and pharmaceutical industry giving her unique insight regarding disability and personal injury claims.
Candice has served the legal community as well. The President of the Florida Bar appointed Candice to serve on the Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure Committee from July 2015 to June 2018. Candice is also a founding member and Immediate Past President of the Polk Association for Women Lawyers. Finally, Candice is a member of the Polk County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
